Diezel Herbert

Herbert - is a 6-power tube guitar amplifier head. It features 3 channels, for 3 distinct different guitar sounds.

Think - High headroom, tight, punchy, all with a massive low end.  This is the Herbert.

It's main difference from the VH4 models are in voicing, circuit design, and general layout. Overall the Herbert has a more familiar, slightly looser feel than the VH4, without losing much of the Diezel signature definition and tightness. Simply put, the amp is a player's amp, forgiving and ready for whatever one's soul and mood desires.

Channels

  • Channel one produces a warm and sparkly clean sound, reminiscent of a piano,. It has immense overhead, whenever a very loud, but crystal clear clean tone is desired.
  • Channel two is a dual purpose channel, it's two voicings can be selected with a toggle switch. The (-) mode of this channel has dynamics to range from a vintage type clean sound to a broad crunch. The (+) mode of this channel offers similar voice, but much more gain. Both modes provide ample pick sensitivity.
  • Channel three offers a high gain structure, but again with very good pick sensitivity and easy control. The distortion structure is transparent, but yet percussive and brutal.

Herbert Amplifiers have a selectable mid cut feature, assignable to all channels. This adds tremendously to the versatility of the amp. The mid cut feature has a compensation control called "level". This allows the guitar volume to be compensated in the event of the mid cut being engaged in mid song.Herbert's master section features dual volume controls, and global presence and deep control knobs. Master effects loops are switch-able serial loop, parallel loop, and serial loop.

Channel 1

Volume and the three band EQ will give you all you`ll ever need - from Hiwatt warm clean

to a Fender sparkling clean sound. If you engage simultanously the mid cut section when

running clean, there are even more sounds from it - funky or hollow - you name it.

Sparkle, Funkyness, Warmth . . . .

Channel 2

Channel 2 offers the whole spectrum of crunch sounds (or even lead) you can think of.

In the minus position and the gain around 35% you`ll get typical cranked Plexi sounds, setting the gain

a bit higher to say 60% (keeping all other pots noon) - voilà: 800s territory. Now flip the switch

to the + mode and get the typical Diezel trademark crunch (gain around 40%). Tight, punchy, fast attack

a dream for those who prefer the harder stuff. Rotate the gain to 60% and play leads.

Versatility . . .

Channel 3

With the gain around 30% you`ll get your metal rythm channel - use the mid cut to land in Recto territory.

Without the mid cut engaged, gain @ 50% and the mids a bit cranked you`ll get a screaming or creamy lead -

just depends on your style/axe/fingers. Crank the mids a bit above noon to add some bite.

If you want to use it for both, rythm AND lead - find your ideal setting and simply engage the second master

to get your personal volume boost.

Perfection. Simplicity and Effectiveness.

Master Section

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Flip the V2 switch to engage the second master volume -

that will be indicated by the left LED. Leave presence

and deep around noon for a start before experimenting.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Switches, Loop, Mute . . .

Of course the two on the right are self-explanatory,

but the hot stuff is on the left. Store your patches

simply by hitting the store switch. You want to expand

your rig with more channels?

Herbert has two different serial loops.

Use the switchable to expand it with a preamp -

while the non-switchable is hooked to your

preferred FX unit.

How cool is that?

You need to tune while gigging? Simply

set a patch muted. Over midi - of course.

Mid Cut Section

This is where the men are separated from the boys.

Both pots noon will give you a pretty strong cut,

excellent for clean sounds.

Intensity around 40% and level 60% and

brutalness for metal comes thru your speakers.

Intensity at zero and volume to your taste - voilà -

another (programmable) master volume.
